#MBFWA Tony Cohen
Last Saturday night I visited the show of Tony Cohen. Normally I put on a report about any fashion show online right away, but the show was the same day my camera did not work hence I had to try to make the pictures somehow a little presentable to you guys (Which they are not, by the way.)
Anyways. The show of Tony Cohen was another spectacle which made me speechless like always. His designs are always very breathtaking! The collection included a lot of neutral colours and red tints. I was so in love with the red pieces. Especially the one on the picture (the red sweater). That sweater is right now definitely on the top of my wish to wear list. He also showed a menswear collection. The collection was very dark and included mostly outfits that were head to toe in black. Perfect for every occasion!

Dennis Diem January 2015
Yesterday evening I visited the fashion show of Dutch designer Dennis Diem. For the ones who are not familliar with this designer: Dennis Diem is a Dutch fashion designer who designs haute couture and bridal dresses. He is known for his use of corsets and his spectaculair shows. I was lucky enough to attend his fashion show for the second time. I have quite a big love for Dutch fashion designers, especially Dennis Diem, Truus and Riet Spijkers, Tony Cohen, Claes Iversen, Edwin Oudshoorn and some more! Especially since I got to know about these amazing people with my school project.
I filmed a big part of the show, so I decided to paste this little videos together in one video to give a better impression of the show than through pictures, since the show itself is also a big part of the performance besides the dresses when it comes to Dennis Diem. Last year he hired professional dancer-models who tripped on the runway, it would've been quite an accomplishement if he would be able to outreach the show of last year, but honestly he did it! There was a singer singing on a flying moon.
The collection was inspired by the first wife of Adam (even before Eva who was created from the rib of Adam). In comparison to Lillith, she was created by God from Earth just like Adam. Lilith has been seen as the icon of feminism for years. Her part as temptress and determination has come up for herself, to choose for immortality.
The collection reminded me of the fifties with the skirts of the perfect housewife from that timeperiod. The collection included feminie and powerful elements. As well as high waisted smoking blazers and pantalons. The bodies excisted of white and black lace and embroidered flowers.
I was really impressed by the show of Dennis. I visited the shows of Tony Cohen and Smart presents SIS by Spijkers and Spijkers. All three collection differ from each other, but were yet evenly unique, powerful and spectaculair! Stay tuned for more!
Smart presents SIS by Spijkers en Spijkers
Hi guys! I just came back from the SIS by Spijkers en Spijkers show and with just, I mean one minute ago and I felt like I should write about it immediately!
When I think of SIS by Spijkers en Spijkers I think of wearable and most of the time colourful clothing. Well, when the show just started I was kind of dissapointed because it started with grey tints and rarely any colour. The designs were amazing and it had these graphic kind of pattern. Then the colours started to show up! Especially yellow was a recurring colour and this collection and I was so in love with the yellow dress shown on the pictures! I need it so badly.
The collection contained clothing for everyone, there were pencil skirts, maxi-dresses and midi dresses and skirts as well as colourful aspects, grey tints, minimalism in some kind of way and graphic artistic patterns.
The collection was telling a story about little Eric who gets a metamorphosis and ends up in a painting with huge life-sized bugs. Truus and Riet Spijkers translated it to their own image which contained graphic, bright, electronic and robot-ic colours and prints.
Next time I would really like to wear a dress of Spijkers and Spijkers. Perhaps the yellow one on the picture above... ;)
I will be posting a fashionweek diary soon about what I wore and my experiences. Excuses for the poor quality, but my camera broke that day hence I had to make pictures with my iPhone.

MBFWA || DAY FOUR || TONY COHEN
![]() |
| first picture taken by me, second picture source by Style Chameleon |
On the Sunday evening of Amsterdam Fashion Week, we closed the night with Tony Cohen. Tony Cohen is a Dutch designer born in Amsterdam. He is filled with creativity and the talent of fashion designing. His designs are elegant, feminine and stunning. In 2005 Tony Cohen launched his couture label called TONYCOHEN. His career went quickly, he already showed his collections in Bryant Park at New York Fashion Week, became an international succes and launched a 'cheaper' label called 2LOVE by TONYCOHEN. Last Sunday he launched the first designs of TONY COHEN MAN and it was a succes! Read further for more about the show...
How would I describe the Spring/Summer collection 2015 of Tony Cohen? One word. Elegant. No matter if the model wore trousers, a long dress of skirt or something tight. The clothing stayed elegant. The clothing were wearing the models instead of the models wearing them. (Though, the models were gorgeous!!). He used simple colors like grey, white, black and dark blue. I loved the idea of the mysterious hat in combination with the maxi skirts. The clothes were loosely and minimalistic, also chic and effortless. I think Tony Cohen had the best clothing of the week (for females). I think I should be saving many for those shoes on the third picture, aren't they perfect? The collection included posh fabrics like indulgent silk and polished leather.
Tony used some bright colors as well! Well.. White is not a color, but less darkness brought to the collection would not hurt. This was also very minimalistic. The first two blouses have a kind of pearl-ish shiny effect. The trousers prove that trousers are not just for men, but sometimes can be more elegant than a skirt or dress. Also, Tony Cohen proved that you don't necessarily have to show skin to look sexy, but covering can be even sexier.. ;-) Yet again, perfect shoes! The more I see them, the more I want them.
So here it is! The first TONY COHEN MAN collection. The collection really is for fashionable men, I loved the sharply cut jackets. Especially the one on the first picture can be worn casually or trendy chic. Tough... meets plushy! I am excited to see more of the men's collection, because you all know I love going through men collections so this was a great addition to the show.
Everything summarized. Why do you need a spectacular show with special effects, actors, cars or whatever you come up with. Tony Cohen proved that keeping it simple, could even attract more attention than all the hodgepodge. I have to be honest, the collection of Tony Cohen had the best clothing and it made my view on the designer much better than before! Covering is sexy, trousers are sexy and this collection is simply amazing. Well done!

MBFWA || DAY THREE || MEVAN KALUARACHCHI
Lucky us! Rosalyn and I got to interview menswear designer Mevan Kaluarachchi. I will be posting the interview later on my blog, because we have to use it first for our project. Mevan is such a nice guy and he is really friendly and talented! The show was definitely the best menswear show of this week. For more about his show.. Read further!
Mevan Kaluarachchi described his designs as clean and sophicated. The best thing about the collection was that he could make it look spectacular without using any big eye catcher, but the technic of little details. I think he used very expensive fabrics, because the quality, even from a distance looked good. The collection was masculine, clean and casually chic. It included different jackets, beige chino's, leather coats with small details and felt bags.

MBFWA || DAY THREE || VIBRANT PAKISTAN
(All pictures taken by me, except the last collage with pictures from www.fashionweek.nl)
On Saturday the 12th of July, Rosalyn and I visited the show of Vibrant Pakistan. I was really excited, because before I went to the show I did some research on what I could expect and I found/expected a lot of color. Since most shows did not have bright colors in it (from what I had seen). I was really looking forward to it!
Vibrant Pakistan, for those who did not know, is not only one designer. The show is organized by the president of Spirits Trust Foundation Kevin Eric. They showcases about the positivity of Pakistan and express their style and energy. The five designers each have a total different style and theme of their collection, which I really like because it shows the amount of different types of fashion which all oddly enough immediately express the middle east. It is impossible to get bored whilst the show, it is unexpected, surprising and fun! Vibrant Pakistan made their introduction of the Pakistani fashion industry.
My favorite designer was Rang Ja. Her designs are described as flirty, fun and trendy chique. Her designs included bright pink, yellow and green. A lot of little details and funky prints. I fell for the details and the accessory (big.. Big.. BIg... BIG) necklaces, bracelets and earrings!
The menswear collection of Bareeze man was totally different from Rang Ja. Rang Ja is really feminine. Bareeze man designed for rich, posh and modern men who would like to look simple, chic and casual. I liked the white suits and the shiny casque's the models carried with them. It reminded me of posh millionaire sitting next to their yacht and tanning, haha.
Other designers were Shahnameh, who had a broad menswear collection with a cultural history that developed to great modern collection with old elements and tailor craft. Laisure club, a powerful and influencal Pakistan fashion retailer with an eye for premium fashion for young and old. And Kayserie with a strong quality, a broad choice of fabrics. From cotton to silk and a big creative mind.
Everything summarized. I really enjoyed the show and am really happy with my invitation. I am excited to see more of the Pakistan fashion, it brought something exotic to Amsterdam Fashion Week and caused some positive variation. I loved the bright colors and the trendy chic menswear collection. Keep going!
DIARY || MBFWA DAY ONE || OUTFIT + PICTURES
Finally! The show I had been excited for for a long while was Iris van Herpen. I am a great fan of her work and I was so happy to get invited to the show. It was a dance performance with choreography by Naninne Linning with a lot of special effects. The pictures did not turn out well, but here are two were you can see the designs on.
Iris van Herpen uses the 3-D style technic and I think that is what makes her special. The show was also different from others, because first you had to walk through some dome. I thought cristals were lying on the ground, but suddenly a few dances stood up and started dancing around everyone who was attending the show. It was a great effect and I liked the idea. (You seen see this on the first picture). Then the show finally started! The dance performance was long, but the designs were great. They reminded me of insects. The dances told me a story of an angry man or wolf (?)
This was the outfit I was wearing. The clothes are my mom's. I first liked my outfit, but later I felt a little insecure about it because it is not really my style. I liked the skirt a lot, but the heels are not my thing. The outfit was just only for one show so it did not really matter.
