Dennis Diem January 2015

Yesterday evening I visited the fashion show of Dutch designer Dennis Diem. For the ones who are not familliar with this designer: Dennis Diem is a Dutch fashion designer who designs haute couture and bridal dresses. He is known for his use of corsets and his spectaculair shows. I was lucky enough to attend his fashion show for the second time. I have quite a big love for Dutch fashion designers, especially Dennis Diem, Truus and Riet Spijkers, Tony Cohen, Claes Iversen, Edwin Oudshoorn and some more! Especially since I got to know about these amazing people with my school project.

I filmed a big part of the show, so I decided to paste this little videos together in one video to give a better impression of the show than through pictures, since the show itself is also a big part of the performance besides the dresses when it comes to Dennis Diem. Last year he hired professional dancer-models who tripped on the runway, it would've been quite an accomplishement if he would be able to outreach the show of last year, but honestly he did it! There was a singer singing on a flying moon.

The collection was inspired by the first wife of Adam (even before Eva who was created from the rib of Adam). In comparison to Lillith, she was created by God from Earth just like Adam. Lilith has been seen as the icon of feminism for years. Her part as temptress and determination has come up for herself, to choose for immortality.

The collection reminded me of the fifties with the skirts of the perfect housewife from that timeperiod. The collection included feminie and powerful elements. As well as high waisted smoking blazers and pantalons. The bodies excisted of white and black lace and embroidered flowers.

I was really impressed by the show of Dennis. I visited the shows of Tony Cohen and Smart presents SIS by Spijkers and Spijkers. All three collection differ from each other, but were yet evenly unique, powerful and spectaculair! Stay tuned for more!
